Liverpool and Arsenal's Christmas Eve clash set for 12.30 kickoff?

Arsenal's Premier League clash with Liverpool on Christmas Eve will reportedly go ahead with kickoff to take place at 12.30pm despite a fan backlash.

Arsenal's Premier League clash with Liverpool on Christmas Eve will reportedly go ahead with kickoff to take place at 12.30pm.

News that the game would be played on December 24 was met with an initial backlash from fans over travel concerns and a lack of tradition.

Sky, whose demands are obliged to be met by the Premier League with slot times pre-agreed in the £11m-per-game contract, initially pushed for the fixture as Christmas Eve falls on 'Super Sunday'.

A compromise for both Sky and fans has apparently been found with the Daily Star reporting that the game will go ahead on December 24 with a 12.30pm kickoff.

Both clubs were opposed to the idea, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp bemoaning the fixture, which is set to be the only game played on Christmas Eve, meaning that his side will have to play four games in nine days.
