Former Dutch manager and television pundit Aad de Mos has urged PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joey Veerman to snub Real Madrid and join Arsenal instead. The Netherlands international has been catching the eye for PSV for quite a while now and has attracted interest from a host of clubs across Europe.

Veerman has been linked with a switch to Real Madrid but Aad de Mos has urged the Dutchman to snub a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The former Ajax and PSV Eindhoven manager has claimed that Los Blancos has no shortage of strength and depth in midfield.

De Mos has claimed that Veerman fits Arsenal's style of play like a glove and should be looking to join the Gunners. He has backed the former Heerenveen star for a bright future for both club and country.

De Mos said, as quoted by Sport Witness:

“I think Veerman is a typical player for Arsenal. He is a different type than Taylor. The latter is also younger than Veerman. He has a great future and is now playing in a very bad team. Let everyone have their say. We will see in the long run. He has already played for the Dutch team, scored against Germany. He will make his minutes at the European Championship."

The 77-year-old added:

“They (Real Madrid) have a lot of good midfielders there at the moment. With those two French guys (Edouardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni) and of course Bellingham. He won’t play much there. I think it would be better for him to move to Arsenal.”

Joey Veerman is an all-action midfielder who is capable of playing either as a number six or as a number eight. Despite being mostly deployed in a deeper role, he boasts great attacking numbers with six goals and 15 assists in 37 games this season.

Pundit claims Arsenal star does not offer enough in big games

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder turned television pundit Jamie O'Hara has criticized Kai Havertz following Arsenal's 0-1 loss against Bayern Munich. The Gunners needed a win at the Allianz Arena following their 2-2 draw at the Emirates last week but were beaten by Thomas Tuchel's side.

Following the game, O'Hara claimed that Kai Havertz is a decent option as a number nine but goes missing in big games. The 37-year-old said:

“He ain’t good enough, he ain’t. He can do a job playing as a no.9 but when it comes to playing against the big boys, the crunch moments, he doesn’t do it."

Havertz did not have the best start to life at Arsenal following his £65 million switch from Chelsea last summer. However, things have improved for him over the last couple of months. The German international has scored 10 goals and produced five assists in 45 appearances across competitions this season.
