Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly leapfrogged Arsenal and Newcastle United in the race to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Football Insider (via TEAMTalk) reports that Spurs are in pole position to land Gibbs-White. Forest are under pressure to sell several star players due to their financial issues and they could make a handsome sum from the Englishman's departure.

The Tricky Trees are thought to value Gibbs-White at upwards of £50 million. This means Tottenham would be paying a club-record deal to sign the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man.

It's believed that the Lilywhites are in a better financial position than Newcastle to pull off a deal. They beat the Magpies to the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City last summer and could prevail again.

Spurs' scouting team have identified the former England U21 international as an Ange Postecoglou profile player. He's impressed for Forest this season with six goals and seven assists in 37 games across competitions.

Arsenal have also been in the race and reportedly started monitoring Gibbs-White recently. This came when Forest were punished for breaching Premier League financial regulations.

Emile Smith Rowe's future at the Emirates is uncertain as he's struggled for first-team opportunities. He could be one player looking over his shoulder if Mikel Arteta looks to rival Spurs for Gibbs-White.

Arsenal and Tottenham could also reportedly battle for Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke

The north London rivals both look keen on bolstering their attacks this summer. Gibbs-White would be an astute signing and his English compatriot Dominic Solanke could also be on the move.

Solanke, 26, has been in red-hot form for Bournemouth this season, posting 17 goals and three assists in 32 league games. The former Liverpool and Chelsea youngster sits joint-fourth in the Golden Boot race.

Football Insider (via CaughtOffside) reports that Arsenal and Tottenham are rivaling West Ham United for Solanke. The Cherries want £50 million for their talismanic forward who has three years left on his contract.

Solanke arrived at the Vitality Stadium from Anfield in January 2019 for £24 million now that add-ons have been fulfilled. He has yet to taste European football and could look to do so with any of the London clubs.

Arsenal may be the ones mostly in need of a new center-forward amid a recent slump in front of goal. Gabriel Jesus isn't producing prolific numbers and they crashed out of the UEFA Champions League after a 1-0 loss (2-1 aggregate) against Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.

Tottenham could still replace Harry Kane who ironically joined Bayern last summer. Son Heung Min has stepped up to the plate and Timo Werner has impressed since arriving on loan from RB Leipzig.
