Monaco VP Vadim Vasilyev talks about Lemar's situation Arsenal tried to sign Thomas Lemar on deadline day but for the deal to fall through in the end. Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger has reiterated that they will go back in for him in the future. Now, AS Monaco's vice-president Vadim Vasilyev confirmed that the Gunners were very close to signing the player and spoke about the Frenchman's future. As quoted in The Mirror, he said: “Liverpool were really interested [in Lemar]. But it was Arsenal that was really close to finalising the deal. It was quite close.
