Schalke 04 keen to fend off growing Leon Goretzka interest

Schalke 04 sporting director Christian Heidel has revealed that the club will "go to the pain threshold" in an attempt to fend off growing interest in midfielder Leon Goretzka. The Germany international, who is due to be out of contract at the Veltins-Arena at the end of the campaign, has been linked with an array of European clubs in recent months. Barcelona are among those to have shown an interest, only to then pull out of the race earlier this month, while Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have also been tipped to make a move.
