Steven Gerrard’s fairy-tale FA Cup win in his final season with Liverpool just wasn’t to be as Aston Villa came and spoiled the party. To the delight of many Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal fans, the Anfield hero, 34, was left on his haunches as Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph gave Tim Sherwood’s Villans a 2-1 victory at Wembley in their semi-final. If Brendan Rodgers’ side had won the game, they would have played the final on May 30, which just happens to be Gerrard’s birthday.
