Arsenal 1-1 Atletico Madrid: Wasteful Gunners unable to get first leg win against ten-man Atletico

Arsenal missed a glorious chance to gain the advantage in their Europa League semi-final tie against ten-man Atletico Madrid after being held to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium. Arsene Wenger’s side dominated the game which saw Sime Vrsaljko sent off for the visitors after just nine minutes and Atletico boss Diego Simeone was given his marching orders by the referee moments later.  The visitors owe a huge debt of gratitude to keeper Jan Oblak who expertly denied Alexandre Lacazette and Danny Welbeck in the first-half.
