Transfer Gold: Arsenal break record to sign Dennis Bergkamp from Serie A side Inter in 1995

In the summer of 1995 Tottenham chairman Alan Sugar was not happy. A year previously, he had secured a major coup by signing German star Jurgen Klinsmann. When Klinsmann opted to leave Spurs for Bayern Munich at the end of the season, Sugar launched into a tirade about mercenary "Carlos Kickaball". Meanwhile, Spurs - who had just finished above Arsenal - were offered the chance to sign Inter's Dennis Bergkamp.
