Radamel Falcao was picked ahead of Robin Van Persie
Van Persie was named on the bench for the match against his former club due to illness according to Van Gaal. He told: "I hope to put pressure on Arsenal. We shall fight for third place. "Robin van Persie has been ill and Radamel Falcao has played the last 45 minutes against Crystal Palace and did well so I don't have any issue to put him in the line-up. "I have said more or less to him that he can show his class again. I have a lot of confidence in him and he showed in the last week that he is improving. I hope for him, he deserves it."
