Arsenal set to ditch one summer transfer plan after Mikel Arteta has rethink

Arsenal stopper Emiliano Martinez has persuaded Mikel Arteta to shelve his summer transfer plans after replacing the injured Bernd Leno. The backup goalkeeper has filled in for his positional rival in recent weeks following Leno's knee injury suffered in the Brighton defeat at the Amex Stadium. Martinez was expected to be sold by Arteta at the end of the season but looks set to stay put beyond the summer following his stand-in performances. The Daily Mirror report the 27-year-old could also be given a new contract by the Spaniard in the coming months.
