Tottenham target Marcelino had Arsenal interview after Unai Emery sacking
Tottenham managerial target Marcelino was once in the frame for the Arsenal job following the departure of Unai Emery in 2019 - but was overlooked for Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard, who took over at Athletic Bilbao earlier this year, has spent time with each of Sporting Gijon, Racing Santander, Sevilla, Villarreal and Valencia among others. The 55-year-old has managed almost 800 games since retiring as a player, but he didn’t quite have enough to beat Arteta to the Gunners job following the departure of Emery.
