Wenger confirms Arteta contract extension
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that club captain Mikel Arteta will stay at the Emirates for one more year. Reports have circulated for the best part of the year that the Spaniard would extend his contract so the news doesn’t come as much of a surprise. It is welcome nonetheless, particularly given the experience the 33-year-old brings to the squad. Speaking about the deal, Wenger told Arsenal.com: “He will stay with us for one more year because he has extended his contract. “He’s one of the leaders in the club because he’s the captain of the team.
