Mikel Arteta agrees new Arsenal contract

Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has agreed a new one-year deal with the FA Cup holders. The 33-year-old was out of contract with the Gunners, but he will now spend a fifth year in North London. Arteta started just six Premier League matches for the club last season, due to a number of injury problems, but manager Arsene Wenger expects him to play a bigger part in the forthcoming campaign. "He will stay with us for one more year because he has extended his contract," Wenger confirmed to Arsenal's official website.
