Arsenal blow! Defensive midfield target set to stay at Barcelona

Arsenal target Sergi Samper has been told he has a future at Barcelona. The home-grown defensive midfield prodigy had been heavily linked with a switch to the Gunners after Arsene Wenger sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old for Barca's under-21 side last term. Although Samper did manage four senior appearances for last season's treble winners, making his debut in the Champions League against Apoel, reports in Catalonia suggested he may move from his boyhood club in search of regular first-team football.
