Arsenal to register £35.5m bid for South American goal-machine
Arsenal are readying a 50m (£35.5m) bid for PSG forward Edinson Cavani as an alternative to long-term target Karim Benzema, according to Fichajes (via the Metro). 28-year-old Uruguayan forward Cavani is one of world football's most consistent goal-scorers and a player whose physical presence could prove ideal for a move to the Premier League. Cavani has bagged 56 goals in two seasons in the French capital, and this despite the fact that Laurent Blanc often plays the South American in a wide attacking role in order to accommodate Swedish veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
