Arsenal failed with deadline day bid for £22m rated striker

Our failure to sign a striker before the close of the window has resulted in outrage from fans, but it seems we were closer to signing someone than we thought. We apparently saw a deadline day bid for Juventus' Simone Zaza rebuffed, and failed to return with a bid matching the Serie A side's valuation before the window slammed shut, according to talkSPORT. The 24-year-old's situation has been complicated in the past by dual ownership, but with Juventus buying him outright from Sassuolo this past summer for a reported £12.75m (via Sky Sports) things are now a little simpler. It's unclear how much we bid for the Italian international, but it clearly didn't match Juventus' £22m valuation...
