Club appeal but Gabriel ban could be extended

Arsenal have confirmed that they have appealed the red card issued to Gabriel on Saturday, but the Brazilian is facing further punishment from The FA. The club say they've appealed the sending off as a ‘wrongful dismissal' but in a statement this afternoon, in which they confirm Diego Costa has been charged with violent conduct for his assault on Laurent Koscielny, the game's governing body have charged the Brazilian defender with ‘improper conduct'. His reaction to being sent off has brought about the charge and it seems unlikely they'll coutnenance any reduction when trying to punish him further.
