Arsenal scout Brian McDermott: 'Arsene Wenger won't spend in January'

Arsenal scout Brian McDermott has claimed that manager Arsene Wenger will not buy any players in the January transfer window unless he deems it "absolutely necessary". The Gunners added just one new player to the team during the summer - goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea for a reported £11m fee. Despite the club's current injury list, which includes Danny Welbeck, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott, McDermott believes that no signings will be made in January.
