Wenger Taken Aback By Physical Stoke City Approach

It has been reported that Arsene Wenger admitted he was surprised by the way Stoke City came out to play at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday. The Potters are a completely different team under Mark Hughes to the way they have customary played over the years and their style in the 0-0 draw was something that Wenger certainly did not expect. The Frenchman felt it was a much more direct approach from Hughes' men in a game which saw goalkeepers Jack Butland and Petr Cech grab the headlines for vital saves at key moments. 'Stoke wanted to surprise us by playing a very direct game and made it very physical. We had to fight,' he said. 'When you don't score, you can always lose, but we got the 0-0....
