But Carroll, who should have been sent off for a wild tackle on Laurent Koscielny after three minutes, secured an incredible comeback for the Hammers who had been 0-2 down inside 35 minutes. Carroll could even have gone again at the start of the second half with an elbow on Gabriel. He then put them ahead with another header as Michail Antonio flew down the wing before Koscielny’s equaliser.
