Key Arsenal star ‘very close' to signing massive new deal
Mesut Özil is entering the final two years of his contract, but the German playmaker is apparently 'very close' to signing a bumper new deal, according to the Mirror. It's unclear exactly how much Özil is currently on, with a number of reports quoting different sums. He's most certainly one of the highest paid at the club though, with Alexis Sanchez the only player who could feasibly be earning more. Arsene Wenger is determined to tie the World Cup winner down to a new long-term deal, and it seems as though he'll get his wish. Özil was apparently keen to wait until the end of the campaign to put pen to paper (via Sky Sports), but with the season almost over, serious contract talks...
