Arteta announces retirement from playing, coaching decision imminent

Mikel Arteta has officially announced his retirement as a player, and says that he now has a decision to make about the next step in his career. The Spaniard played one last time for Arsenal in emotional scenes yesterday, and has since decided to hang up his boots, feeling that he wasn't able to contribute as well as he wanted to as a player. 'You have to be honest with yourself,' he said. 'For me, the standards you need to play for this club – it cannot be eight out of 10. It has to be 10 out of 10.
