Jack Wilshere 'happy' with Sam Allardyce appointment

England midfielder Jack Wilshere has backed the decision to appoint Sam Allardyce as the new manager of the national team. The 61-year-old was named as Roy Hodgson's successor last month, 10 years after being overlooked for the role in favour of Steve McClaren. Wilshere is looking forward to playing under the former Sunderland boss, and believes that the FA made the right decision in sticking with an English manager. "I'm happy with him, I think it's important that the England manager is English.
