Werder Bremen Discuss Move For Arsenal Defender

Werder Bremen are interested in signing Per Mertesacker should he fail to extend his contract with the Gunners this summer. The centre-back, who is currently recovering from injury picked up in pre-season, is not expected back in action until later this year and his current deal expires in the summer. Mertesacker who played for Werder Bremen for five years prior to his move to Arsenal has previously admitted he is unsure about his future at the club but hopes he can still play an important role this season.
