David Rocastle – a special footballer taken too soon

A true Arsenal great, David Rocastle is remembered today on the 14th anniversary of his passing. After graduating from Arsenal's youth academy in the late 80s, Rocastle – or 'Rocky' as he was affectionately known – went on to become a double league winner with the Gunners and a fan favourite for his crucial goals. It was a shock to everyone when this extremely talented midfielder passed away at the age of just 33 from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a form of cancer. Loved at Highbury, Rocky also inspired real respect from opposing football fans, going on to play for Leeds, Manchester City and Chelsea.
