Arsenal given boost in Mesut Ozil contract stalemate?

A report claims that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil may put pen to paper on a new deal in North London as no other sides are willing to match his wage demands.

Mesut Ozil has reportedly failed to attract any serious offers for his services and could stick with Arsenal by signing a new long-term contract.

The Germany international was widely expected to depart the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season when his existing deal expires.

Manchester United and Inter Milan have recently been tipped to move for the soon-to-be free agent but, according to The Sun, no other team is prepared to match the 28-year-old's wage demands.

Ozil is said to have asked for £330,000 a week, but the player's advisors have informed him that he will either have to lower his salary expectations or instead take Arsenal's offer of £250,000 a week.

The report suggests that Besiktas are keen to sign the former Real Madrid ace, though there is little chance of the Turkish champions funding his £17m-a-year wages, while Inter are unwilling to match the contract offer recently tabled by Arsenal.
