Nobbs - Scoring my 50th goal felt incredible

Jordan Nobbs scores her 50th goal for the club

Tuesday’s Women’s Super League game was certainly a special one for Jordan Nobbs.

Not only did we bounce back from last week’s frustrating goalless draw with Yeovil Town, the England international also scored her 50th goal since joining us back in 2010.

“It’s incredible,” Nobbs told Arsenal.com. “To just score one goal for this club is amazing, let alone 50. I didn’t even realise it until they said it over the tannoy, so it’s a great feeling and hopefully there’s plenty more goals to come from me.

“I’m definitely claiming our third goal too. I scored direct from a corner against Millwall the other month and my aim is to just whip it as close to the goal as I can and hopefully we can either get a flick on or it goes in. I’m glad it went in but a goal is a goal and I’m not bothered how it goes in, as long as we score.”

Despite netting twice, including her landmark goal, Katie McCabe’s stunning strike ensured Nobbs didn’t steal all of the spotlight.

Collecting the ball on the edge of the box, McCabe set herself before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner - and it was a goal that Nobbs would have been proud of, too.

“Well, we said we just needed to focus on touch-finish, touch-finish, touch-finish,” the England midfielder said. “As soon as she hit it we knew it was going in. It was a fantastic finish and it allowed us to relax and play our football again.”
