Arsenal manager Unai Emery claims that his side did not deserve to lose their Premier League clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has claimed that his side did not deserve to lose this afternoon's Premier League clash with West Ham United.

Declan Rice scored the only goal of the game at the London Stadium as the Hammers registered their first home win over Arsenal since 2006, leaving the Gunners now winless in their last five away league games.

Emery admitted that his side did not perform well but believes that the full-time scoreline was harsh on the visitors.

"The result is a bad result. We lost a very good opportunity to take three points and continue closer to Chelsea and other teams in the top four, but we lost," Emery told reporters at his post-match press conference.

"We wanted to do better. We could not control the match like we wanted. Look at the chances in the match from them and from us, I think the result is not what we deserved. We didn't concede a lot of chances, but we conceded metres on the pitch and these metres forced a lot of corners and from one of those corners they scored - and then the match changes.

"We needed to attack more and better, but they worked well defensively. We created some chances, but it isn't enough. In the first 20 minutes we created chances and started to think about winning the match, but after that it was difficult because we didn't impose all the things we wanted."

The defeat leaves Arsenal still three points adrift of the Champions League places ahead of Chelsea's match against Newcastle United later today.
