Report: Bayern eyeing Sven Mislintat as Arsenal departure rumours intensify

According to a report in the Independent, Bayern Munich are hoping to lure Sven Mislintat back to Germany as doubts grow over his position at Arsenal.

The former Borussia Dortmund man was named as the club’s Head of Recruitment just last November, and was instrumental in the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dinos Mavropanos, Sokratis, Bernd Leno and Stephan Lichtsteiner – as well as those of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.

However, over the weekend rumours began to circulate that he could leave the club before the end of January, and this afternoon those intensified with a story on Arsenal blog Le Grove.

We’ve done some digging since, and it does seem as if there has been an ongoing issue between Mislintat and the club since last year, while the report in the Independent says that there are tensions between him and Head of Football Raul Sanllehi, with the German’s recommendations for new players being ignored by both the Spaniard and Unai Emery.

Recent transfer links to players like Ever Banega and Denis Suarez indicate a greater input from Emery, but the head coach cast some doubt over the club’s ambition in the transfer market this month by revealing only loan deals were an option.

Interestingly, there were stories late last year that Mislintat was going to be promoted to the role of Technical Director. There’s been no confirmation of that, and in recent weeks Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for former Gunner Edu who would be handed an operation role in the football set up. It might well be a case that he comes in to replace the German, but it would leave big questions about who is heading up our scouting department.

Whatever’s happening though, it doesn’t speak to things going as smoothly as we’d like behind the scenes, and the man tasked with unearthing the hidden gems may well be on his way out.

If only we could monetise self-inflicted damage we’d blow our competitors out of the water.

Damo Dinkum

Self-Inflicted Damage would make a terrific CB pairing alongside Repeated Self-Destruction

Scott P

At this rate, Inanimate Carbon Rod is going to cost us upwards of 50m

Damo Dinkum

Can possibly keep it as low as 40m once Gunnersaurus is appointed as new Head of Recruitment and works his magic

SharpasFc

And think of how much money the club would make on the lettering alone!

oliphaunt

It’s probably already forgotten, but we paid a VERY HEALTHY sum of money to lure him from Dortmund. Maybe we are trying to flog our remaining assets of value (not many left). I think this was always a 50/50 call, if he would fit into the Arsenal way… so I am not too surprised that it didn’t work out, especially with Gazidis leaving.

Timsh

Yeah, weird if true. But if he’s falling out with Dortmund and us, maybe he’s the problem.
However, don’t like to speculate without having inside information about what exactly is going on.
I guess Sanllehi would be enough as football executive?!

Faisal Narrage

He never fell out with Dortmund, they love him, he’s the man that’s single-handed probably made them hundreds of millions through recruitment. He fell out with Tuschel. I’ve been a massive supporter and backer of Emery, but if the rumours are true then he can piss off too. I’m fully backing Sven on this, dafuq ignoring his recommendations so we can get Banega and Suarez (clear Emery choices). Sven, not Emery, is the true successor to Wenger at Arsenal. We lose and we lose the only USP we have, because we sure as fook don’t have the money to match… Read more »

Hank Scoprio

Could not agree more. As for bringing in plodders like Suarez and Banega surely a reason to bring in Sven aside from the obvious identification of cheap gems like Torreira was to remove the concentration of power as it was with Wenger. If we had some strong leadership at the club they’d have stepped in some time ago and sorted this

David Tuffney

Idiot

Fish78

Our “perfect ” clubs the problem .He is obviously finding talent ,but as usual we don’t have the funds .which is bollocks ! He’s frustrated because he’s doing his job and we aren’t listening !!!!!

Chamackhyungpark

The Arsenal way being wasting huge amounts of money on shit players and failing to tie the good ones to long term contracts, resulting in an ever decreasing in quality our team and fractured fan base. Coupled with gross neglegance from our owner, who is completely disinterested in our sporting achievements. That arsenal way?

Anonymarse

In a nutshell

martin

Who are these many shit players we’ve wasted money on. It’s true like all clubs bad decisions have been made but with very few exceptions most of our signings have been good

Deano

This season just gets worse by the week.

myrtle

There’s never a dull moment with this club

Goonerooni 48

Arsenal authorities clearly believe that self-inflicted damage is good for their souls and brings them ever closer to self-annihilation.

Chibs

If all this shii y’all listed was wrong, as it is, especially the no-give-a-fuck owner and Bayern came calling at such a transitional stage for them, I’d take the first flight to run on the autobahn with my beautiful football brain brian haha

Chibs

Can you tell wrong from right?

Gio

Wow. I haven’t felt this pessimistic about the future of our club in a long time. Everything seems fucked right now.

If shit carries on this way I can’t see us getting back in the Champions League any time soon, let alone challenge for the league. Things could get even worse than they are now. So depressing.

SharpasFc

I’m with you! I’ll support the team no matter what, but this fiasco smells like last year and the Sanchez debacle or Ivan leaving just a few months/weeks(?) after appointing a new manager! I can’t quite work out whose fingerprints are all over this latest development…I’m guessing Raul though.

Teryima Adi

It’s a war of over bloated egos.

Arsenala Vista Baby

Bloated egos. Like leaving out Ozil.

GraeB

I’ve been wondering for a while just what the Management Structure chart for Arsenal looks like. I was never one for the flat structures my old company introduced, as the spread of control was too thin.

With too many bosses on the same apparent level, there is always likely to be conflict for those seeking the upper hand and power struggles ensue.

Kroenke has too many businesses to control directly but each of those is seemingly reporting directly to him without the relevant board being in control of daily affairs. Their sole motivator seems to be financial regulation.

bshoop333

Office Space?

Tinygiant

What major difference has he made? Torreira and Auba are the only two players worth mentioning. And unfortunatly age is catching up with Auba.

Other signings are Leno, Mavro, Sokratis, Kolasinac, Guendozi, Lichtsteiner and Leno. None of which are players who can make Arsenal go next level.

In short: Sven just might be overrated

Lucas Sam

this comment is so ignorant and short sighted. Auba was signed to reinvigorate and assure the attacking line he was 28 at the time of signing and in his prime to our champions league aspiration as well as lift some burden on Laca. Leno at the price he went for if you compare the crazy prices goalkeepers go for nowadays is a bargain. He is a seasoned keeper that speaks English and a good passer. We needed a goalkeeper to replace cech who is now retiring. Mavro is one for the future with lots of potential, he was supposed to… Read more »

Spuds won’t struggle moving stadium like we did ,I’m so confused by the whole thing .we moved ,we suffered because we were told we would .we are still struggling after all this time .so badly wrong .FFP we were told .No one else cared .we sat back all clean and innocent. For WHAT !!!!

FatArse

Oddly, the thing that first attracted me to Arsenal was their style of play and their self sustaining business model which I felt was a breath of fresh air from the increasing money-pumping ownership of other big clubs. If done right, it could have worked so well and set us on a strong footing to compete with the other top EPL clubs. As it is, it’s 2019 and we’re looking more and more like a mid-table challenger club along the lines of Leicester, West Ham et Al. There’s no leadership at the club and it’s turning into a free for… Read more »

It seems like the foundation of the club has been cracking for a very long while. Now we’re seeing the pieces fall off. There doesn’t appear to be a clear direction to a better future on the pitch and in the boardroom. It will take something very special to pull this team up.

…If that’s not too pessimistic for you.

Anne Noyd

Wenger was the foundation.

YpsiGooner

Unfortunately, perhaps David Dein was actually the foundation. That ended poorly, but he was around for George Graham success, signed Ian Wright and Bergkamp, and got Arsene.

kaius

Maybe it’s a generational thing but the idea that *a single coach* was the foundation of the club is bonkers.

I mean, it’s understandable people think that if Wenger was the only Arsenal coach they’ve ever known. But title-winning coaches like Graham, and directors like David Dein and particularly Danny Fiszman, who did so much to get the Emirates project started, deserve more respect than “Wenger was the foundation”.

Anne Noyd

You misunderstand. Wenger was the club’s acting foundation, a construction term. That has now gone, leaving the building collapsing and foundation-less. Unable to support its own weight.

kaius

No, I understood you fine. I just disagree.

In my opinion, the foundation of any football club is it’s fanbase.

myrtle

Yeah but who got David Dein?

Nketibag

Sir Chips

Bob

That’s a slightly selective list… How about Kronke? 😉

YpsiGooner

Stan is implied in “ended poorly.” Surely not all roses, but Mr. Dein did have a few Ws under his belt.

Ivan the Terrible

It’s never been quite the same since Sir Henry Norris buggered off.

Teryima Adi

And he ruled like an absolute tyrant.

Comedian

Right when i was holding the banner “In Sven We Trust” , hope its just a rumour else we are doomed. I was speculating this the other day, if he is here identify talents but if we don’t spend he would not stay for longer. Also he is more than a scout and think our setup was suppose to him identifying talents and coach/manager to integrate those talents in the team.

Dobby the house elf

But that doesn’t line up with the work he’s actually done so far, does it? Do Aubameyang, Sokratis and Mkhitaryan represent that model to you? Reports of him vetoing the Malcolm deal in favour of Aubameyang don’t exactly scream long term planning or squad building given we’re still short of quality wide players and already had Lacazette. I’m just not seeing what this guy has done for us to justify his reputation (at Arsenal). Emery was supposedly involved in the deals for Guendouzi and Torreira and that seems perfectly normal to me. If Sven wants absolute control well… he can… Read more »

Awesomesauce25

My understanding is that Aubameyang has scored more PL goals than anyone other than Mo Salah since his arrival, and leads the league this year. Seems an odd criticism of Sven to say he picked him over Malcom. Also, considering available funds and urgent need for CB given Koscielny injury, i don’t think Sokratis was a bad buy. Torreira and Guendouzi both look promising. Lichtenstein was free and provides experience as a backup and can help Bellerin develop his defensive qualities. All things considered, seems Sven has done quite well. But since we don’t know the discussions and details about… Read more »

Dobby the house elf

I think auba is fantastic but would you say Lacazette and Giroud is not good enough to secure top 4? That we have the top scorer in the league and Mustafi is still a first choice players tells you everything about where our priorities really lie. I’m not criticising him for buying auba but, being honest, if he knew the financial situation and knew the deficiencies in our squad I don’t think investing that heavily in a 29 year old striker was especially long termist which is what Mislintat was touted as being

Faisal Narrage

Auba, issues aside, is currently the league’s top goalscorer in a team lacking creativity. Malcom is currently riding bench at Barca and is available for loan after not impressing.

If that’s your criticism of Sven then you’re doing a poor job at it.

Dobby the house elf

Riding the bench at Barcelona doesn’t mean that much to me and the point wasn’t so much about Malcolm specifically. We had more pressing issues than our centre forward situation and chose to spend the bulk of our funds on a centre forward. We did not bolster the defence and recruitments like lichsteiner were sub par

Faisal Narrage

“Doesn’t mean that much to me”
Which is why we only care what Sven thinks.

Dobby the house elf

Nice dig, but you know what I’m saying. Good players have sat on the bench at Barcelona before and will do again. We only got Sanchez because he as surplus to requirements at Barca. The point is, it’s not about Malcolm, it’s about the needs of our squad and as good as auba is, he also represents a large portion of that budget spent on a player in a position that wasn’t a problem. In an ideal world we’d have both but we don’t live in an ideal world we live in a world where Stan Kroenke owns arsenal and… Read more »

Auba? Same Auba who is among the league top scorers? That Auba? Look, in all honesty, we failed Sven. By we, I mean Arsenal, I can not imagine it being easy to do your job of recommending talent to Arsene Wenger, then now Unai Emery. If we have not seen his work it is because it has been rubbished behind the scenes. SharpasFc

I don’t think we are doomed. Some of Sven’s finds have been questionable and not necessarily the calibre of player we actually need to move us forward. Also it’s quite apparent that Raul and Emery are keen to develop the talent we have in our academy rather than spend.

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

You have to be joking. Torriera is already a 55m player – in 6 months.
Every young player he has brought in looks highly promising.

JB1

This would be very bad news

No disrespect to Edu, but how does his networking come close to Sven’s

Dobby the house elf

Edu has been involved in technical roles for over a decade… you’d think he probably has some, especially in South America because of his corinthians and Brazil connections

Gus Caesar

Technical roles? Yes. Scouting expertise? Not quite.

Dobby the house elf

But edu is being linked as a technical director, not a chief scout. Perfectly possible Sanhelli thinks a technical director and a more democratic approach to recruitment than Mislintat would like is the way forward. Mislintat isn’t working as a scout right now either, for the record.

Gus Caesar

No, for the record Mislintat is currently our Chief Scout – he’s nothing else. I don’t doubt that, if there’s any truth in the Edu rumours, that he’s regarded for his technical skills, but my point is that it doesn’t replace what Mislintat brings in terms of the eye for players.

SouthWalesGooner

It’s all well and good going after South American kids, but we’re never going to get work permits for them, and it’s only going to be harder when Brexit comes in.

SharpasFc

No disrespect to Sven but he only seemed to have one number in his contact book and it connected straight through to Dortmund.

Anne Noyd

..and Sampdoria, and Lorient…and PAS Giannina. Don’t be fooled, this guy knows his marbles and we are in a whole load of sh1t if he leaves.

Deano

People are missing the point here saying they don’t rate Sven, well Bayern obviously bloody do.

Irrational Gunner

Not that I have that much trust in ESPN, but here is an from article from Ralph Honigstein http://www.espn.com/soccer/arsenal/story/3752011/arsenal-head-of-recruitment-sven-mislintat-leaving-over-transfer-strategy-sources

Faisal Narrage

ESPN sounds more plausible.

Issue isn’t between Sven and Emery, but in fact between Sven and Raul, with Sven who was brought in on the Gazidis vision of analytical recruitment but Raul wanting to use a more “classic” model of recruitment (old boys network). This is basically old ways v new ways, and I’m fully for Sven on this.

If we lose him, we are fooked. Raul looks to be a classic football man and is going to send us back to an old time. Shit.

Irrational Gunner

Don’t know much about Raul at Barca, but always perceived that club to have a lot of resources to work with unlike our present situation. Really thought we were heading for a “find the nuggets, coach them up, and sell when priced correctly strategy” with Sven acting like he did at Dortmund.

Whole thing feels at bit like panic is setting in.

Faisal Narrage

Let’s also remember Barca under Raul were whom we would flog our dead horses to for a quick buck whilst stealing Cesc and Bellerin from under his nose.

Irrational Gunner

Vermallen and Song if my memory is right. Always thought they were a bit of the patsies on those two.

Faisal Narrage

Verm, Hleb & Song, whilst getting the likes of Bellerin and others under his watch.

Dobby the house elf

Bayern are currently trailing to a Svenless dortmund

Faisal Narrage

On the shoulder of rebuilding their squad on the sale of Ousman Dembele, Sven’s parting gift to Dortmund. Add to that list;
– Dembele (once more just in case you’ve forgotten)
– Hummels
– Sahim
– Gundogan
– Aubameyang
– Mkhi
– Lewandowski
– Blszczczykowksi
– Kagawa
– Guerreiro

And many more. It was on these players Dortmund transformed themselves from Bayern playthings to European elite. And even in his short time here, you can already see the “Sven-like” players he’s got; Torreira, Guendouzi & Mavropanos for a combined total of about £32M.

But you keep pushing your anti-Sven agenda.

bendtnerschristmastree

well, apparently we don’t have any money to spend, so what use do we have of a ‘head of recruitment’?

Dobby the house elf

Mislintat spent 120 million on ex dortmund players approaching 30 since he was hired. How many pre Dortmund dembeles or Torreiras does that buy you?

Nketibag

It was so the club could get back into the Champion’s League THIS SEASON. Not next, not in 5 years after all these prodigious 19 year olds develop.
It was a calculated risk with known quantities, and who knows it may still work.

Dobby the house elf

Well then if that was his calculation I’d argue he’s done a poor job. We had Lacazette and Giroud which is good enough for top 4 but an atrocious defence, lacking quality on the wings and in midfield. Don’t you think we’d be more likely to make top 4 if we had a better backup for Bellerin, a replacement for mustafi and a genuine wide option? Long term planning is what Mislintat was supposed to represent not stop gap signings that leave you with an even bigger rebuild down the line

Awesomesauce25

Sorry, but you probably have no idea what the board tasked Sven to do. I would expect they wanted him to help to get back into CL asap AND establish long term plans. Also, seems getting back into CL asap is probably a good long term plan as it would allow you to have more funds and prestige to attract future star players.

Dobby the house elf

I have as much idea as you, we’re both speculating. I’m replying to your assertion as what the intention of those signings was. Getting back in to the CL is important but given all our best players such as Ozil, monreal, koscielny, cech etc are the wrong side of 30 I’m not sure adding more of those players was that wise. Europa league football wouldn’t prevent us buying torreira type signings and building something for the future. We could have made money from developing and selling those players as well as building a team that was at its peak when… Read more »

Nketibag

You’re forgetting how pissed off and vitriolic the fan base was last season. Bad enough to force out club’s most successful ever manager after 22 years. Do you think the board and new head coach would expect fans to be patient enough to wait “building a team that was at its peak when we made the champions league” in x number of years? The stance was win now and use the Dortmund connection to help. I can’t exactly fault Mislintat for bringing in players who have one the Bundesliga and made it to a CL final. 70m was spent this… Read more »

That’s not what I said… at all. Auba is fantastic, but if Mislintat was aware of what funds were available and looked at our squad with Lacazette up top and Mustafi in defence with no back up right back and chose to spend big on another striker but get a stop gap centre back and ageing right back I think that’s not ideal squad building. I reference Malcolm because, well, we are desperate for a wide player and as much as you can point to him sitting on the bench at Barca I could also point to the form that… Read more »

This whole no money situation is completly justified in my opinion.
The club spent over 100m on two quality centre forwards in 6 months, alongside monster contracts for ozil, mkhi, kolasinac lacazette and aubameyang.
All without receiving ANYTHING in return. Tell me how exactly you expect them to have change from that to splash this january?

David C

Run a debt…it’s not my money, haha. That’s how all rich teams work. I know it’s never going to happen under Kroenke so I wouldn’t blame Sven for leaving because he has more ambition than our club/owners.

Dobby the house elf

It isn’t your money but it is your club. Why would we want the club to go in to debt? Should we go the Leeds route and take out a bunch of loans too?

David Tuffney

Idiot

midgunner

Nothing in return?

Ox, Giroud, Walcott, Wilshere, Szczesny, plus wages Santi and Sanchez.

myrtle

Peanuts, the lot of them. The club has consistently made a net transfer loss since 2012/13.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-arsenal/alletransfers/verein/11

I’ll direct you to the year before where Xhaka, Mustafi and Perez came in for a combined 90 million.

Dobby the house elf

That really must be our worst window for years… only Xhaka can constitute anything close to a success and he wasn’t really value for money. I can’t believe Mustafi actually starts for Arsenal..

Tristian Beale

Except for the 17/18season as the link you posted says we made more than we spent…….

Irrational Gunner

The Le Grove article sites that his player choices have been turned down by Raul and UE.

Sam H.

It appears that the distribution of power model isn’t working. Ultimately, someone has to be in charge and that was always the case. I suppose what we’re seeing is the inevitable result of the struggle for authority, with Sanlehi winning and Mislintat losing. The consequence for the club could very well be mid-table mediocrity until Kroenke decides to sell to someone with an ambition to win games instead of making money.

Ryan

Raul didn’t do too badly in his last role at Barca

Faisal Narrage

When it comes to recruitment, Sven help turn Dortmund into a decent German club into a European powerhouse, through recruitment.

I mean no offence to Raul, but it’s much harder helping to transform an average club into a big one than managed Barcelona.

Irrational Gunner

Exactly. Read the history of Dortmund from 2006, when Mislintat joined, onward. Hell, we helped them fend off bankruptcy, so it seems, when we bought TR7 and Crazy Jens. Klopp and Mislintat turned them into what they are today. His quality can not be underestimated.

Irrational Gunner

We have had changes on the pitch, so I guess we would have been naive to think there may not be instability or change in the administration, even after Ivan the terrible. So where do we go from here? I thought we might pattern ourselves after Dortmund, but not now. Guess we just have to wait until the Adidas deal kicks in to shed some light on our future player strategy.

No way.But 100% was involved with guenand main reason he joined us,yes.Mislintat gave us 16m sokratis a decent UCL level player in his prime for championship level money.Lich deal from all the sources came as a deal made collectively board.nothing to scout there.Mkhi was instrumental in getting Auba and He was our main target to improve PR once we sold Sanchez.and we got him on a swap, the only decent player utd was ready to let go as part of the deal.So yeah…don’t fool yourself saying he was worthless.

Dobby the house elf

What do you mean no way? Torreira even said emery convinced him to sign for the club and they spoke in Spanish at great lengths about his plan for him. Does it not count when Torreira says it himself because emery isn’t “diamond eye” Mislintat

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

“convinced” and “identified” are two very different things my friend.

SharpasFc

Up until the point you started being sarcastic a lot of your points were valid. We either support the manager or sack him now and then see if our players are up for a relegation battle…based on Saturday’s performance I’m guessing the answer is no.

Pat Rice and Beans

Mislintat has a proven track record of find value in the currently inflationary market.

Imho, he is the guy who could make the difference in a scenario with budget constraints, as he did in Bundesliga with BVB. Lose him would be a blow in terms of competitiveness on and off field.

db10s

Here I thought Kronke Jr would be the one saving grace after Gazidis left. Young and with things to prove. Separated from this my thoughts on this issue, I think this coming year has to be the last year we allow Kronke to do whatever he is doing. There’s no better time to inject some cash just this once into the club. From what i understand, Sven Mislintat is not open to negotiations with Unai Emery and Raul Sannlehi regarding transfer requirements. If that is true, then maybe there is good reason for this.

Dobby the house elf

So weird how tribal people are getting about this guy. If he wants total control that is, honestly, ridiculous. Head coach, manager, or otherwise, the guy picking the team needs some influence on the recruitment. Liverpool have a committee but Klopp still has a say. It feels like because emery is titled “head coach” and because Wenger had so much power, people are expecting him to work with a lack of control that no manager in world football would put up with

I'mLosingHope

YES lets get ride of Ozil and Ramsey and buy Trash Suarez and Finished Banega.

Dobby the house elf

Pretty much every manager in the top 6 would move on Ozil, I’m sorry. So many expected Ozil to clash with a manager who didn’t indulge him like Wenger did. That coddled environment is something we all criticised Wenger for in recent seasons so let’s not suddenly start spitting our dummies out when the inevitable happened. Suarez on loan is a perfectly reasonable move to make. As for banega, we haven’t signed him. Yes, because he was overruled in a committee. Emery would be as well in the same situation. Marked difference between that and one guy dictating to Klopp every player he has to work with.

I was saying for a long time that Wenger and even Gazidis glued everything together. Gazidis was the good guy here. You will realize that soon. He had ambitions to take Arsenal forward based on OUR values. He left because he was outspoken. Every club in the world would love to have Mislintat. I second that…without any real proof people are assuming that Sven is leaving because Unai wants to bring in his own players that Sven doesn’t rate. I think it’s more likely that Unai has not been impressed with some of Sven’s finds and ultimately his neck is on the line and he should be able to bring in players he knows he can rely on.

The Old Git's Whistle Test

Outspoken? You only heard from him on good news, hem disappeared like a rat up a drainpipe if anything was slightly negative and allowed others to face the media.

David Tuffney

Gazidis was woefully useless.

Both on and off the pitch we’re looking shakier than an alcoholic parkinsons sufferer, the morning after.

My expectations were lowered in the summer of 2011, and have just gradually got lower… looks like that trend is set to continue for the foreseeable future.

kaius

Yeah. When you consider how many things have changed, coaches, directors, ever more insane TV deals, without us getting any closer to bringing a title to the Emirates, one chief scout leaving the club is just a drop in the ocean.

Dobby the house elf

I’m actually kind of amused how much people are projecting their own vision for the club on this guy. He knew the situation with finances when he joined the club, I’ve no doubt. If he was supposed to signal a return to “project youth” he spent 100 million on a striker when we had far more pressing areas of the pitch to address, brought in Mkhitaryan who is 30 with no scope to improve, no resale value, and on a high wage so hard to sift and Sokratis who is 30, average and again has no potential to improve or… Read more »

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

No, he spent 57 million on a striker that is currently Premier League top scorer.

He spent 57m on a striker that is top goalscorer in the league even through he’s in terrible form.

Dobby the house elf

Sure, and I would argue that Lacazette and Giroud was a good enough strike force to at least get us back in the champions league. Auba is top scorer but that’s, frankly, a bit pointless when you have Mustafi and lichsteiner in your defence.

David Tuffney

So poor t sign the top scorer in the PL, GO TO BED YOU DRUGGED IDIOT

Dobby the house elf

Charming

Shank

please dont tell me we have a control freak owner AND manager

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

Sounds like we have a control freak Sanllehi

Dobby the house elf

Reports from Honigstein are that emery worked well with Sven and this is more a Sanhelli play

Mother

Disappointed? Yes – but it really isn’t the end of Arsenal if true so lets not over-exaggerate like some already have! Sven clearly hasn’t been ignored because we’ve signed a few players (for quite a bit of money) based on his recommendations and considering he’s only been here for about a year I would rule out that he could be fed up with anything. On the other hand, this IS the person who left Dortmund simply because Tuchel asked him to stop attending training sessions… Sounds incredibly petty to me so who knows; maybe his fragile ego has been bruised… Read more »

I'mLosingHope

YES , lets move ON …….. to championship.

kas

So the merry go round starts. Let’s see, If Sven leaves & Emery fails. Then we can appoint Tuchel when he also fails at PSG and then……

Dobby the house elf

Then I guess we have to see who replaces tuchel at PSG to know who our next manager is

Tasmanian Jesus

I might be wrong, but I think Tuchel was already gone from BVB for a while before Sven joined us.

David Tuffney

You know nothing, shut up

Nope

If we lose him we are in big big trouble. Do not underestimate how much harder our player recruitment will be with a new man in post, with a minimal budget to play with.

This is not good at all.

Gus Caesar

Sounds to me like Gazidis’ departure created a consequential power play and one person lost.

CroArse

We are falling apart. #kroenkeout

Thierry Bergkamp

Right now, the club seems fucked. Plenty of doom and glad ahead, it feels like.

Twatsloch

I realise glad is a autospell mistake. I wish it wasn’t, I wish glad was real. It’s not though. It’s doom and it’s shit.

Yankee Gooner

I just came here for the glad.

The Old Git's Whistle Test

I wouldn’t have a problem with Edu coming in, apparently an excellent football administrator and a former Gunner.

I’ve no idea what or why things have gone wrong between the club and Mislintat but I wonder if the fact he has no Spanish influence in his life has anything to do with the situation. I’m not accusing anyone of anything just thinking aloud.

Let’s hope whatever happens it is the best outcome for the club..

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

Spot-on. It’s a Spanish club now. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s been some underhand, behind-the back stuff going on.

Twatsloch

Them scheming Spaniards, eh? Coming here nicking our club!

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

Remember that Emery’s english isn’t exactly grade A yet..
It’s much easier for Unai to convince Raul of, say Denis Suarez than it is for Sven at a meeting with his stats book on the Bolivian 3rd division.

David Tuffney

Brexshit

Twatsloch

I’m starting to feel like we are becoming s sinking ship. This season started on such a positive note but right now it’s looking like there’s a nightmare on the horizon.

Chris

Oh for those simpler days when people obsessed about what happened on the pitch and not who the ‘head of…’ anything might be this week or next. Not a criticism of anything said here mind, but of how football is now. Money ruins goddamn everything.

berlingoon

Oh shit.

Donald's Trump

Lol

Albert48

This is clearly Ozil’s fault!

sAMa

I couldn’t help laughing.

Scwibble

Me neither, I needed it too

Desert Gooner

Maybe Dortmund didn’t agree to sell any further players to us therefore making his job redundant.

Dobby the house elf

Pulisic to chelsea lost him his job

Craig Bradford

If this is true, then Sven has fallen out with two clubs in 18 months. Makes Mourinho look like an amatuer! Maybe he’s the problem. Anyway, Arsenal have been through worse seasons than this. Onwards and upwards!

David Tuffney

Brexshit

Leon

I don’t understand why people are so bothered.
This is the man that brought Lichtsteiner, Sokratis and Leno to the club.
I don’t care if he leaves.
Arsenal are in decline – all this bullshit about “new regime” is just a ruse to fool fans into believing Arsenal are a big club – they are not.
In two years time they will be in a relegation fight.
This makes Wenger’s last years seem like the glory days…

David Tuffney

Is this a pitch for film fundraising?

Gooners & Roses

Well, that escalated quickly.

Linda

I will not miss him. Since arrival to Emirates he has been overhyped by gullible Gooners. He has been portrayed as the better of Wenger, a whizkid who is a magnet to great skills. In the last few years Arsenal has been good at signing non playing personnel with difficult names while owners are milking the club and making zero investment into playing squad detail. All the great managers that were supposed to take over from Wenger and lead us back to championship contenders will leave one by one. Until Kroenke sells the club to caring owners the best times… Read more »

Can you honestly blame him?

Why would he stay if 90% of the players he puts forward are hit back with ‘we can’t afford to buy’

The falcon cannot hear the falconer/ things fall apart the centre cannot hold

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

That’s some deep shit brother

David Tuffney

True dat deep team

Santori

They can have him. He hasn’t been that great. Some people want to believe there is a change in the way we do things. Mslintat and Sanheli had AMPLE opportunity to address issues last January. Instead we did not extent Ramsey early, we did not buy what Wenger needed (a RW player like Mahrez) and we ended up prey to United and taking on Mhkitaryan This summer, we had AMPLE opportunity to buy better Cbacks. Sokratis has been OK (minus his Greek Wrestling which conceded a penalty) but Lichsteiner a complete waste of 90K a week for one year. Band… Read more »

David Tuffney

You are so wrong

Fiers d'être Bleus

Ahh the usual santori ramble..
Before even reading this post I guessed it would contain subjects like Mahrez, us being laid prey to United, Torreira making mistakes in 3 games and of course the lazy jab at Mislintat for “only bringing in ex-Dortmund players”.

Don’t you ever get tired of writing the same thing over and over again? ‘Cause I certainly get tired of having to scroll past them on almost every article.

Jean Ralphio

And this is the problem with decentralisation.

Santori

He has not work particularly well in conjunction with BOTH wenger and Emery in servicing the needs of the squad. His signings have been hit and miss much like Dick Law (whom we got Santi Carzola and Koscielny but also Andre Santos and Squillaci) Some people prefer to will themselves into believing he is this genius maverick transfer guru. There are equally good if not better people out there that have operated with Monaco, Athletico MAdrid we can consider. The key issue is listening to what the manager needs. Mslintat has his own agenda with ex Dortmund players. We can… Read more »

Santori

With regard lack of funds, the rumours rumbling in the press is that Emery would prefer to sell Ozil to raise funds because Mslintat is telling him we can only do loans. There is no guarantee we will be in CL come summer and the players available now (Dennis or Carrasco) have circumstantial reasons to leave now much like Mahrez did last Jan before City came in last minute in window to push his price up. Come the summer, these players may very well not consider us or be available to us as others will come into market ready to… Read more »

Alex

Before willing Özil gone, let’s ask the guy himself if he wishes to leave. He’s got a contract and HE respects it.

John Lukic's gangly beanpole legs

No, Mislintat is not the one who had to tell the gaffer only loan deals, that comes from higher up.
Perhaps Mahrez didn’t want to move to Arsenal. Please consider that before repeating yourself. It would be nice to move on from that subject seeing as it was a year ago now.
Why do you always talk down to other fans, it’s very rude. You speak as if there’s you then beneath you is the rest of us. Why?

Timsh

Shouldn’t these guys be able to agree on a strategic plan for the future of this club?
Wasn’t Sven involved in the decision to appoint Emery as well? Vinai, Raul, Sven and Unai (+ Ivan) must have had some kind of vision, no?!
Get around a table and sort it! Put the egos aside!
It hasn’t even been a full season.

People (in general) really should communicate better and talk more for fuck’s sake…

Santori

Aubameyang. I fail to see why some like to wank off to him as “world class” Yes he’s top of the charts along I might add with Salah and Kane but he’s slow as mud considering he is suppose to be pacy, gives the ball away a lot and never able to challenge for any of the high balls. World class was RVP who could score but also create his own opportunities, take on players. He’s an OK signing for us. We need more from him at 180K a week. Meanwhile the same people will have a moan about iwobi… Read more »

Bit rich, with you wanking regularly all over your keyboard on here. We have to put up with your ‘in depth’ analysis in our face wether we like it or not.

laudgunner

Guess,we will be the first Blackpool in the EPL. Kreonke should be forced out.

VoiceofReason

I think Kroenke wants to drive Arsenal fans away from the club and soccer so they end up following LA Rams

Fatgooner

Like I’ve said before, the REAL problem at Arsenal is a hopeless lack of leadership from the very top. We are a complete joke now.

Anyway, what’s the point of having a head of recruitment if we don’t have any money to spend?

Jack4343

No surprise I guess. After all, what good is a diamond eye with a cubic zirconia budget.

David Tuffney

Just about had enough, had mail from club on discount on Cardiff tickets, fuck you Arsenal. That’s it from me for a good while, fuck you again.

sambo

Money would fix it all and we don’t have any because we have a rat owner. They sold us out

Kostas

Maybe Sven didn’t clash with UE or Raul. Nor he was dishearted by funds.
Maybe simply it’s Bayern Rebuild task where he will be challended to find 5star players that actually lured him out? Can you blame him? No. Shall we hit the panic button? No. Shall we keep giving Stan money? …no
