What’s the story?

Arsenal might not have had the funds to make permanent signings in the winter market but it seems as though they might have something in store for the summer as 18-year-old Dominik Szoboszlai has been linked to the Gunners.

In case you didn’t know...

The Gunners signed just one player in the winter market – Denis Suarez – and that, too, on loan as Unai Emery claimed that they don’t have the financial power to sign players permanently.

“We cannot sign permanently,” Emery said at the time. “We can only loan players. I know the club is working on possibilities of which players can help us with big performances like we need now. I cannot say more.”

Heart of the matter

However, now, according to AS, the north Londoners are going to compete in a race with Serie A giants Inter and Juventus, as well Bundesliga goliaths Bayern Munich, for the signature of the teenager.

The Red Bull Salzburg midfielder’s contract runs out in the summer of 2021 and his price is quoted to be around just €10 million. For someone who has scored six goals and assisted four times in just nine matches, this is a great price.

Rumour probability rating: 7/10

When a young player plays well in a rather modest club, he is bound to catch the attention of Europe’s biggest teams. He might be very young but Arsenal manager Unai Emery is someone who invests his faith in young players.

What’s next?

If Szoboszlai continues his good form until the end of this season, he is almost certain to either sign an extension with his current team or make a move abroad for a bigger club. For now, will just focus on getting better with each passing game.
