Arsenal transfer round-up: Schubert, Koscielny, Saliba

Good afternoon fellow transfer kids, here’s what’s going on in relation to Arsenal in our latest round-up of the stories from an inward and outward perspective.

Markus Schubert

A young German goalkeeper identified by our former Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat. According to Jack Pitt-Brooke in the Independent, we’re keen to follow up on that recommendation by making an offer to his club Dynamo Dresden.

We’re reportedly keen to loan him back out immediately, so it’s obviously felt he’s not yet ready to understudy Bernd Leno. At the moment Emi Martinez looks like the man most likely to be handed that role, perhaps for just a season as the young German looks to develop.

Jack’s report seems to come from a good place, so we’ll break out the Poo-o-Meter and give this one a fairly solid three.

Laurent Koscielny

Arsenal want to ‘get rid’ of the Frenchman, that’s according to a report in Bild, who also link him with a move to Borussia Dortmund. There have been ongoing whispers about the captain’s future, and in truth he doesn’t have it in him to play week in, week out – certainly not the three times a week schedule he was asked to fulfill towards the end of last season.

The idea that we’re so dismissive of him doesn’t feel at all right though, so we’ll take this one with a hefty pinch of salt and nine poos.

William Saliba

The latest on the 18 year old centre-half from Saint-Etienne is that we are ‘close’ to signing him, and a deal could even be completed in the next couple of weeks.

Close? Couple of weeks? We’re reminded of Father Ted.

There is a Father Ted quote for any occasion… but that would be an ecumenical matter

Saliba deal all in place to sign for Arsenal.

A source close to the club says “given the lack of poo’s given by arseblog, the transfer is surely imminent.”

Saliba is highly thought of in France. He is a beast! He clearly has a football brain, clever feet and he is a power house. He would be an exciting signing.

Jack

Is it me or is there a real lack of anything happening at all?! Doesn’t stuff usually start happening by now? Especially when there’s so much that needs doing!!

Would you feel better or worse if I said its you?

Our problem is too many players on our books, we can only register 25 players over the age of 21, and 8 must be homegrown (17 non homegrown) If we sign players now? We’ll be in a weak selling position, because other clubs will be-able to do the maths, knowing that if they wait long enough we may be forced into doing loans or selling cheap for players we can’t register, and don’t have any use for. It’s also clear that we’re trying to cull our overinflated wage bill, so I’d imagine we’ll be desperately trying to move players on,… Read more »

I think you’re right and it’s also possible we’ve signed players and not announced it for the same reason.

One of the benefits of no longer being a public company is that we no longer have an obligation to make public announcements.

This is off topic, but Raul Sanllehi’s face is so cute. His face is just so damn cute!!!

He also has the cutest voice

Schubert could be a ‘key signature’ to obtain towards the ‘composition’ of our squad, which is currently something of an ‘Unfinished Symphony’ that needs work on a ‘major scale’.

… I’ll play myself out.

Mayor McCheese

Is he a no. 8?

Exiledgunner

He’s not done anything of note since 1828, though. I have some doubts as to whether we’d be a good fit for him at this stage of his career. His movement hasn’t been too good lately.

Hantal

I’d say if we can get money for Kos then the club will look at it, his wages are probably quite high too. It’s a shame

1) Keeper – Certainly an area to watch. who is Leno’s second? Future on Ospina still unclear. Most likely if (we don’t muck it up) he gets a decent offer, he’s off. But he’s a decent reaction keeper with plenty of experience just slightly short on height which made it more challenging dominating aerial situations (Hence he came off his line less, relied on our Cbacks…) Of course Martinez needs to be heavily considered as well. At 26yrs, if he isn’t given the chance now to step up, he never will. Like Szsc, we won’t know till he gets a… Read more »

Maxiboy

Why in the hack is koscielny leaving? THIS SUCKS!! Is this true or fake?

We actually need much more than William Saliba if we have to truly compete in the 2019/2020 premier league season, Our team is extremely weak in all departments and undoubtedly needs the fire power of a champion anyday.
Can we add Steven Nzonzi, Hakim Ziyech, Ryan Frazer, Fernandez Carrasco, Christian Konate and Harry Maguire to the list please. Our coming season and entire outlook will be better for it.
