New Arsenal adidas away kit goes on sale

Arsenal’s new away kit for the 2019/20 season has gone on sale.

Made by adidas, who’ve already delivered a very popular retro-styled home shirt, it’s loosely based on the early 90s cult classic ‘bruised banana’ kit.

Yellow, blue, snazzy zig-zag details…it’ll no doubt go down a storm with supporters. That said, I think we all have to admit, the original is still better.

The new shirt, which is accompanied by navy shorts and yellow socks, is available to buy online via Arsenal Direct and adidas. Our third kit will be released next month.

Great. Every time I see us in it I’ll have flashbacks of Borussia Dortmund battering us

Joey Jojo Jr Shabadoo

That photo, looks like you’re in a lift with the guys, and they are scowling at you because you dropped one.

Jarghs

It’s not me, I have an egg sandwich in my bag!

Maul Person

Auba’s face says “I’m blaming you but it was really me”

Fart Overjars

lets sorbet that out team arent a bunch of lemons.

hopefully theyll be singing like canaries after the first away game

these guys arent yellow bellies

Goonereality

If they had the same attitude playing as they’re showing for the ad … .

baz00r

Boy band?

Maxin In The Shade

Am I the only one that wished it was just plain yellow without the zigzag lines?

Goontang

Yes

Maxin In The Shade

Good to know!
I’ll go back to my corner now.

Maxin In The Shade

I know I’ll probably sound silly, but can you order the tops without the ‘Visit Rwanda’ logo on the sleeve?

Gunnerer

United have toilet maker ‘Kohler’ on their sleeves(should have been sp*urs). Visiting Rwanda is a better idea

A Gorilla

Yes, but only in Rwanda

Maxin In The Shade

Hahahaha…….I liked that!

Eeleen

Arsenal need Reiss Nelson to come good this season even more for marketing reasons than football reasons. And our need for a quality winger for football reasons is unbelievably high anyway. Almost all of our new kit marketing is centered around him and Wrighty. And although he is “one of our own”, his made about 5 first team appearances. Our team is so clearly lacking marketable players. Ozil is still probably the best one, but because all the mayhem around him, he can’t be used as a face of this club. We are in pretty dire situation if we have… Read more »

I have to politely disagree. It’s all about Auba and Laca for me right now!

asdd

Aubameyang?

49Z

Wrighty is old school/past, Nelson is new school/future.

FatArse

Kind of agree with you @Eeleen, although I think Auba is definitely a marketable player as well as Ozil and Bellerin. Buying ‘brand ambassador’ players is something that the truly big boys do. Look at Real Madrid buying David Beckham (£25m I believe). When asked at his unveiling why they paid such a fee, the answer was ‘well it’s probably paid for itself already in shirt sales’. However, Silent Stan isn’t interested in the brand-building business model. He wants the self-sustaining model reliant on buying future gems and making best use of the academy. Neither of these streams contribute to… Read more »

Futsboller

Well said.

Jonesy

“I’d go as far as saying that it’s not a sustainable business model for a club aspiring to be among Europe’s elite.”

Possibly, although Ajax just reached the semis of the Champions League (and should have got to the final had Sp*rs not got ridiculously lucky) having adopted precisely that model.

PeteyB

Sure, but maybe a little easier for them as their route into champions league is less congested. It’s pretty tough for an English club to do the same and simultaneously maintain top 4 finishes

FatArse

As @PeteyB says, it’s much easier to do that in a league with less harsh competition. I agree that it’s hugely exciting for Ajax but I’m still sceptical that it’s a long-term success plan. My guess is that it’ll be very up-and-down for them as they lose their best young talent every season. In the EPL, there’s just too much competition for that. Look at Southampton, for example.

Thierry Bergkamp

I finally love Arsenal kits again. However, I will not spend another penny on this club until I see some real ambition in the transfer market. I hope i will be surprised before the window closes, but I doubt it.

Rich

Puma produced 1 decent kit in 5 years… and that literally fell apart within a couple of months, they’re definitely not designed to last. I love all three of the new shirts, and a couple of the training tops as well, and providing the home+away tops haven’t broken by the time the third kit comes out? I’ll probably get that as well. I’m making the most of it while it lasts, Adidas are going to do well to top this, and we could be back with Puma again in 5 years…. These are the best looking kits we’ve had for… Read more »

Futsboller

I don’t think ambition in the transfer market proves anything — lots of teams spend lots for little.

Twatsloch

It’s cool that Onyx are also Arsenal fans.

North London is Redder

Original is SOOO much better. This is like a cheap non-union Mexican equivalent from Señor Camiseta del Futbol. Better than the last few years though eh.

Amusa

Poor Mikhi. Auba was his best friend at Dortmund. Lacca stole him away after he came to Arsenal. Mikhi must feel like the third wheel 🙁
Maybe the heartbreak has something to do with his performances?

OnlyBeingHonest

More revenue for Stan, I was excited for this jersey, but i refuse to buy anything from Arsenal until they sort this shit show out.

Breezymh

If I understand correctly, the money will go to Adidas, all of it, hence why the kit deals are so large these days, clubs don’t get a cut from the sales but a big payment upfront… could be wrong though

Pat Rice and Beans

Generally the club receives 10-15% of the revenue the kit manufacturer generates from shirt sales.

Kentish Gooner

I really want to buy this but refuse to spend my hard-earned cash on this money pit of a club until we start seeing some ambition.

So depressing seeing even the likes of West Ham splashing the cash and we can’t even sign an injured Scottish LB 🙁

allezkev

It’s odd isn’t it (maybe not) that the club officially release the new away kit the day after the petition.
A cynical ploy or a coincidence?

FatArse

Coincidence… this launch date would have been pre-planned months in advance

A P

You over think things.

Maul Person

“Okay guys. We want you, three of our best known players, to be the centrepiece of an ad to sell the away top. So, first things first, put them on. Great. Now… look like you mean business. Excellent! Hmm… something’s not quite right… I know! All of you, put a top on to cover the shirt we want to sell!”

?

Sussex Goon

At least it’s not some pale green nonsense. Our away kit should always be yellow top with blue shorts. It’s our wonderful FA Cup winning colour. It’s not rocket science!
