Arsenal recorded a hard fought 2-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League

This is just the second time in over five years that Arsenal have started the season with consecutive wins in the Premier League. However, as Alexandre Lacazette stabbed home the opening goal inside the first 12 minutes, their intentions were pretty clear.

The Gunners were dominant in possession in the first half, but headed into the tunnel on level terms after Burnley snatched a last-minute equalizer through Ashley Barnes. However, Arsenal reclaimed the lead just after the hour mark, thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese striker received the ball after Johann Gudmundsson was dispossessed by summer loan signing Dani Ceballos and applied the finishing touches to put Arsenal ahead in the 64th minute. Aubameyang’s goal ultimately proved to be the winner, as Burnley struggled to engineer a comeback.

Besides, there were a few players who really rose to the occasion and helped their side to a second successive victory in the league.

On that note, we look at three players who starred for Arsenal in their 2-1 win over Burnley.

#3 Dani Ceballos

Arsenal fans are buzzing over Dani Ceballos' impressive display against Burnley. The young Spaniard joined the Gunners on loan this summer following a frustrating spell at Real Madrid.

However, he appears to have quickly settled in at the Emirates, with his performance on Saturday providing clear evidence for the same. Not only was he tidy in the middle of the park, but also highly industrious and creative in the advanced areas of the pitch.

First, he set up Lacazette to open the scoring in the first half, and then his pressing led to Gudmundsson losing the ball in his own halfas Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang notched the winner in the second phase.

For the first time in a long while, the Gunners appear to have a player of the same mold as Santi Cazorla – one who can dictate play and open up defenses with forward-thinking passes. Ceballos was definitely the star of the show in Arsenal’s win over Burnley.

#2 Nacho Monreal

Composition, composure and timely interceptions, Nacho Monreal had them all on Saturday. A lot of us may question the reason behind Lacazette's absence in this list, but it's important to note that the striker was largely ineffective after Arsenal’s opening goal.

Monreal was, however, lively throughout his time on the field. The veteran defender was named in the Gunners’ staring XI ahead of Sead Kolasinac, and he justified his selection with conviction. The Spanish left back constantly linked up play, although not all his final deliveries were top notch.

Having battled with injuries last season, Monreal could play a major part in Arsenal’s season should he remain fit for the rest of the campaign.

Against Burnley, the 33-year-old reminded Emery and the Gunners faithful that he's still got it and can be relied upon despite his age. On the basis of Monreal’s performance against Burnley, don’t be surprised if he is handed another start against Liverpool next week.

#1 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is simply a man on fire. The Arsenal striker scored 22 Premier League goals last season – a tally that saw him share the Golden Boot award with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

He is continuing from exactly where he left off last season. The Gabon international scored the only goal as the Gunners defeated Newcastle United last week and he was again on the score sheet against Burnley on Saturday.

Aubameyang scored what proved to be the winner after some impressive pressing by Dani Ceballos saw the ball fall kindly in the Gabonese's path. It was his seventh goal against the Clarets in four league appearances. The former Borussia Dortmund forward was Arsenal’s main threat throughout the game and his goal was the least he deserved for his efforts.
