'I hope we see Torreira again this season'

The latest prognosis on Lucas Torreira is that his recovery from a fractured right ankle will take "between eight to 10 weeks".

A quick glance at the calendar confirms that, even with the most generous timeframe, our Uruguay midfielder will struggle to get back for the end of the Premier League campaign - and a possible FA Cup final.

But the player - and Mikel Arteta - are hoping for the best.

"Well, I wouldn't like to rule him out [for the season]," said our head coach.

"Lucas is really keen and wanting to play again this season. Whether that is realistic or not, we'll know again in the next two or three weeks. It depends on how the bone is healing, how he's doing in his rehab and at the moment we don't know anything for sure."

While Torreira waits and hopes, the waiting could be over for Cedric Soares to make his debut after he recovered from a knee injury.

"I think [Cedric and Mustafi] will be available to play," said Arteta.

"Hopefully everybody will be available to train tomorrow [Tuesday] and we'll pick the squad with the best players we can."
