Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Norwich City

Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday night's Premier League clash with relegation-threatened Norwich City.

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host relegation-threatened Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's side have returned to winning ways following a poor start to action after the coronavirus pandemic, beating Southampton in their last league outing before sealing their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Sheffield United's expense.

The Gunners can ill-afford any more slip-ups if they are to qualify for Europe next season, though, and any dropped points against Norwich could be particularly costly heading into a difficult run of fixtures.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Mesut Ozil

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: July 1 (vs. Norwich)

Mesut Ozil missed the FA Cup win over Sheffield United after sitting out training due to a "slight back injury". The playmaker will again be assessed ahead of this match, but the quick turnaround is unlikely to do him any favours.

David Luiz

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: July 1 (vs. Norwich)

David Luiz limped off nine minutes into the second half of Sunday's game after sustaining an ankle injury and the extent of the problem will now be assessed.

Gabriel Martinelli

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gabriel Martinelli will not feature again for Arsenal this season after requiring surgery on a knee injury he suffered in training.

Bernd Leno

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Bernd Leno is also expected to miss the remainder of the campaign after suffering knee ligament damage against Brighton, although the injury is not as serious as first feared and he could be back in training by late July.

Pablo Mari

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Another to have suffered from Arsenal's injury-hit return to action, Pablo Mari sustained a "significant" ankle injury in the first game back against Manchester City and will not play again until next season.

Lucas Torreira

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: July 7 (vs. Leicester City)

Lucas Torreira has been sidelined since March due to an ankle injury and, while he is coming towards the closing stages of his recovery, Wednesday night's match will come too soon for him.

Calum Chambers

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Calum Chambers was ruled out for the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign after damaging his cruciate ligament in late December, and even the three-and-a-half-month break due to coronavirus has not given him enough time to play again this season.

Cedric Soares

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Facial
Possible return date: July 1 (vs. Norwich City)

Six months after joining the club on loan from Southampton, Cedric Soares could finally make his Arsenal debut in this match. The defender is now recovering from a broken nose but should be in contention on Wednesday.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no players suspended for this match.
