With their dreams of European silverware still very much alive, Arsenal welcome Unai Emery's Villarreal to the Emirates Stadium for the second leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

The Yellow Submarine travel to North London boasting a 2-1 lead from the first leg, with Nicolas Pepe's penalty giving the Gunners hope following goals from Manu Trigueros and Raul Albiol.

We say: Arsenal 2-1 Villarreal (3-3 aggregate, Arsenal to win on penalties)


Emery has more than one incentive to steer Villarreal into the showpiece event, as the visiting boss not only has his European reputation to maintain, but also a sense of personal pride as he seeks to dump his former employers out of the tournament.

The Gunners arguably should not even be in with a chance of progressing to the final, but Arteta will aim to galvanise his troops and plenty of his big names are well-rested. We think this one will go the distance and are ultimately backing Arsenal's prowess from 12 yards to carry them through to Gdansk.

Roma vs. Man Utd (Thursday, 8.00pm)

Last week's crushing success at Old Trafford sees Manchester United with one foot in the final, as they visit downtrodden Roma in their Europa League semi-final second leg on Thursday.

The two clubs convene at Stadio Olimpico having prepared in far from ideal circumstances, as United saw their weekend game called off amid chaotic scenes and the hosts slumped to a third successive defeat - leading to their manager's departure.

We say: Roma 1-2 Manchester United


Even if Manchester United decide against fielding their first XI - reasoning that the task of reaching the final is all but complete - a confident and rested side should be able to take further advantage of the disarray injury-addled Roma find themselves in.

While the pre-game appointment of ex-United manager Jose Mourinho as the Giallorossi's new head coach from next season adds a dash of excitement to the encounter, his former team should comfortably dismiss any hopes of the home side staging an odds-defying comeback.
