4 times the Premier League Golden Boot was shared 

The Premier League is often seen as a litmus test for goal scorers in Europe. High-octane action and the recurring fixture pile-up often challenge the consistency of those tasked with the job to score. Goals win you games and ultimately the silverware. Some players are born with an innate hunger to always be the ones applying the final touch.

Premier League strikers have been fiercely competitive over the years

Strikers are sometimes branded 'selfish' but there is no denying the fact that they are integral to the success of any team.

Managers would love to have such goalscorers around, helping their teams become ruthless inside the final third by scoring at will. Healthy rivalries have existed among strikers across clubs in the Premier League over the years. On that note, here are four instances in which Premier League forwards shared the golden boot:

#4 Dion Dublin, Michael Owen, Chris Sutton - 1997-98

The 1997-98 season answered the English media of their biggest doubt, "Arsene who?!". Arsenal won their first Premier League title in Arsene Wenger's first full season at the club. But the honors of the Premier League golden boot for the season did not go to one of their players.

The three who won the Golden boot, Dion Dublin, Michael Owen and Chris Sutton, playing for Coventry City, Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers respectively, were all tied at 18 goals. This was also the first time that the Premier League golden boot was won by a player(s) who scored less than 20 goals.

Dublin was quite evidently the saving grace for Coventry City in 1997-98 as they finished 11th in the league. He scored 39 per cent of the team's total goals and also provided 10 assists. This was also the only time that three English forwards have shared the golden boot in the Premier League till date.

Michael Owen and Chris Sutton helped their teams finish third and sixth respectively.

#3 Michael Owen, Dwight Yorke and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - 1998-99

Manchester United were back in business as they won their fifth Premier League title after having lost it by a mere margin of one point to Arsenal in the 1997-98 season. It was also the first of Manchester United's four consecutive Premier League titles. They are still the only team to achieve that feat.

In only his second season at Leeds United, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink won the golden boot to help his club to a fourth place finish. He was signed by Atletico Madrid after the season was completed but made a return to the Premier League with Chelsea in 2000. He won the Premier League Golden Boot on his return as well with 23 goals that season.

Hasselbaink was also the division's top assists provider, tied at 13 assists with Arsenal magician Denis Bergkamp. He shared the honor with Manchester United's new signing Dwight Yorke and Liverpool's Michael Owen. The latter won it for the second time in a row.

This was Yorke's first season in the United shirt. He had moved from Aston VIlla for a fee of €19.25 million. All the forwards were tied at 18 goals.

#2 Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov - 2010-11

This goes down in history as the penultimate Premier League title of Sir Alex Ferguson's era at Old Trafford. With the title, Manchester United broke their tie for 18 top-flight titles with Liverpool. In an interesting match-up, the golden boot was shared by two Manchester rivals, Carlos Tevez (City) and Dimitar Berbatov (United), both tied at 20 goals.

It was the best season for Berbatov in the Premier League during his four-year stay at United. After scoring nine and 12 goals in his first two seasons respectively, Berbatov scored 20 in his third, his highest single-season tally in the Premier League. The highlight of his season was the three hat-tricks he scored against Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City.

His Manchester City counterpart Tevez, who used to be a part of the Red Devils from 2007-2009 was a completely different beast in his time with the 'Noisy Neighbours'. Tevez managed a tally of 23 goals in his first Premier League season at City, and in his second he scored 20 to share the golden boot.

The following season, manager Roberto Mancini and Tevez fell out due to an incident against Bayern Munich, with Tevez allegedly denying to come on as a substitute. His game time and goal return in the Premier League slowly diminished afterwards.

#1 Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 2018-19

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang enjoyed Unai Emery's first full season at Arsenal - more than many Arsenal fans. The forward secured his first golden boot, and what might be his only in the Premier League during the campaign. Aubameyang came to Arsenal in the January transfer window in 2018 and this was his first full season in the Premier League too.

Liverpool and Manchester City were involved in a mad title race. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane fired on all cylinders throughout this Premier League season for Liverpool. The Reds ultimately managed the highest points tally without winning the Premier League as City eked out a title win.

The Reds scored a total of 89 goals in the Premier League, of which approximately 50 per cent were scored by Salah and Mane as they netted 22 each. Mane's 22 goals remain his personal best tally of a Premier League season till date.

This was a campaign full of personal milestones for Mane. He overtook Demba Ba's 16 goal Premier League tally, the highest by a Senegalese player. Mane also became Liverpool's record away goal scorer in the Champions League by scoring against Bayern Munich.

Salah also silenced his haters, who after his first season that resulted in a remarkable 32 goals in the Premier League, referred to him as a one-season wonder. His contract was extended at the start of the season and he repaid Jurgen Klopp's faith. This was the Egypt international's second successive golden boot. This season saw Salah become the fastest Liverpool player to reach 50 goals.
