Arsenal continue to be an inconsistent outfit under Mikel Arteta, who has come under immense pressure since the start of the season. However, he has managed to find balance, and produce some good performances in the past few weeks.
The Gunners were the highest-spending Premier League club this summer, bringing in young talent to reduce the average age of the squad. The rebuild is not over, but their transfer window can be described as a positive one.
However, a few Arsenal players are now likely to leave the club. That includes squad players as well as first-team regulars. On that note, here's a look at five players who could leave Arsenal in the January transfer window.
#5 Rob Holding
There have always been doubts about Rob Holding as an Arsenal starter. The signings of Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes have pushed him further down the pecking order.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made White his primary transfer target last summer, and eventually got his man. White, who cost Arsenal nearly £53 million from Brighton & Hove Albion, has immediately become a key first-team member. Holding, who was one of Arsenal's better performers last season, has been reduced to a squad player.
Holding joined Arsenal from Bolton Wanderers in 2016 for nearly £3 million. Injuries, though, have restricted his appearances for the club. Last season, he was Arteta's preferred centre-back. But so far this season, the 26-year old has made four appearances in all competitions, and could well leave the club in January.
#4 Mohamed Elneny
For a brief period last season, it looked as if Mohamed Elneny had clawed his way back into Mikel Arteta's plans.
Elneny joined Arsenal from Basel in 2016 for £11.2 million. He has never been a consistent starter at Arsenal, enjoying a season-long loan spell at Besiktas a few years ago. The 29-year-old produced some commendable performances last season, but it is unlikely he will be viewed as a starter for Arsenal in the games ahead.
The Egypt international has made two appearances in all competitions this season. The injury to Granit Xhaka might increase his playing time. But it is more likely that the likes of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ainsley Maitland-Niles may be preferred to him. So Elneny looks likely to leave Arsenal soon.

#3 Calum Chambers
A product of Southampton's famed academy, Arsenal's Calum Chambers was highly rated during his days with the Saints.
However, things have not gone according to plan for the player at the Gunners. Chambers joined Arsenal in 2014 for £18.2 million, but has not been a regular in the first XI. Capable of operating as a centre-back, right-back and defensive midfielder, Chambers has struggled to get going at the Gunners.
The England international has enjoyed loan spells with Middlesbrough and Fulham during this period. His time with Fulham was particularly fruitful, with Chambers winning the Fulham Player of the Year for his performances. The 26-year-old has made only three appearances in all competitions this season, so a fresh start could well suit him.
#2 Bernd Leno
Bernd Leno has been one of Arsenal's better performers under Mikel Arteta. While he is prone to mistakes, the goalkeeper has generally stood tall when called upon.
This summer, though, Leno was linked with a move away from Arsenal. Leno joined Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen for £22.5 million in 2018, and has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper since then. The arrival of Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United for £25.2 million this summer has altered the equation, though.
Both Ramsdale and Leno have been rotated by Arteta so far this season. It has been reported that the Spaniard prefers Ramsdale due to his ability on the ball. With the FIFA World Cup next year, Leno will be keen to be a part of the German national team. The 29-year-old has been linked with German clubs, where he could he headed to in January.
#1 Alexandre Lacazette
Alexandre Lacazette is unlikely to be an Arsenal player for much longer, with his current contract expiring next summer.
There has been little to suggest that Arsenal are going to offer him a new contract. Lacazette has done well for Arsenal since joining from Lyon in 2017 for a then club-record fee of nearly £48 million. The France international might not be a prolific goalscorer, but his work ethic and technique have been useful for Arsenal.
Letting go of Lacazette will free up wages, as Arsenal seek to refresh their forward line. The 30-year-old has been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid and AC Milan. Arsenal, meanwhile, have been suggested as a potential destination for strikers like Luka Jovic and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
