Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta left with Mohamed Salah dilemma ahead of Liverpool clash

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will be aiming to continue his fine form against Arsenal this Saturday.

Ramsdale impressed by Arsenal colleagues in big England win

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has a key selection decision to make for Saturday's trip to Liverpool. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 10 matches in all competitions and eight in the Premier League. The Gunners sat bottom after losing their first three games of the campaign but are now up to fifth after a huge resurgence in form.

There have been several players vital to the turnaround under Arteta.

Ben White and Gabriel have formed a successful partnership in the middle of defence in front of the impressive Aaron Ramsdale in goal.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has become a crowd favourite with his strong displays at right-back.

Thomas Partey, when fit, and Albert Sambi Lokonga have impressed as a midfield two in recent weeks.

Emile Smith Rowe has been the standout player, with Bukayo Saka also crucial in attack alongside the experienced duo of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

But one player who has surprised many is left-back Nuno Tavares.

Summer signing Tavares has played every minute of the last three Premier League matches.

Kieran Tierney missed the first two of those due to injury but had to settle for a place on the bench in the 1-0 win over Watford.

Tierney has proven his fitness while on international duty with Scotland in their wins over Moldova and Denmark.

But whether he comes straight into the Arsenal side on Saturday remains to be seen.

Only as recently as a month ago, you would have been laughed at for questioning Tierney's place in the Arsenal side.

But 21-year-old Tavares has grabbed his opportunity with both hands so far.

It would be unfair to drop the former Benfica ace as he has not put a foot wrong in recent weeks.

However, it may also be deemed unfair to put a player of his relative lack of experience up against arguably the best player in the world right now.

Mohamed Salah has been in scintillating form for Liverpool so far this season.

The Egyptian has contributed 17 goals and assists already in his 11 Premier League matches.

Neither Tierney or Tavares would look forward to having to attempt to keep the 29-year-old quiet.

Salah has a superb record against Arsenal and Tierney has the scars of playing against him before.

Playing Tavares would give Salah a different proposition to come up against.

But it could also be naive to throw a player of his age into a hostile Anfield atmosphere.

It is a big decision which Arteta must get right.
