Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta puruses Xavi Simons' signing

Arsenal are reportedly showing interest in securing the services of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Xavi Simons following his impressive performances throughout the season. The Dutch international has previously played a short stint at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The 20-year-old's exceptional displays have attracted attention from several clubs, and the Gunners are considering a potential move for him this summer, as per journalist Ekrem Konur.

With Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his midfield options and reduce reliance on Martin Odegaard's creativity, Simons has emerged as a promising target.

The 20-year-old has amassed an impressive tally of 19 goals and 12 assists across all competitions, making him an attractive long-term investment for Arsenal.

Simons possesses the potential to become a key figure for Arsenal in the coming years, making it crucial for the club to secure his services during the upcoming transfer window.

The opportunity to join the Gunners presents an exciting prospect for the player, as it would mark a significant step forward in his career. It also provides him a platform to showcase his abilities at a higher level and in a more competitive league.

The competitiveness of the Premier League, coupled with the chance to play alongside top-class players, could accelerate Simons' development and enable him to fulfill his vast potential.

However, PSV Eindhoven are unwilling to let go of their talented midfielder easily. Reports suggest that the Dutch club aims to negotiate a new contract with Simons, hoping to retain his services for the long term. It remains uncertain whether the midfielder will commit his future to PSV or opt for a move to Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he is grateful for the overwhelming support following loss against Brighton

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his gratitude for the outpouring support he received after the team's recent defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. Arteta revealed that he received 122 messages from friends, colleagues, coaches, and club members. They all emphasized the importance of not losing perspective on the team's accomplishments.

The overwhelming support was unprecedented during Arteta's three-year tenure at the Emirates Stadium, providing him with a much-needed boost. The Spaniard said that the messages helped him avoid excessive self-criticism and the tendency to dwell on missed opportunities.

The manager acknowledged that receiving such support was invaluable and played a vital role in helping him maintain a balanced perspective during challenging times.

He said:

“I think it was 122 messages I had – all talking about what we have done. 'Don’t lose perspective on what you guys have done'. In the three years I have been at the club, I have never had that many text messages after the game. It was incredible.''

The Gunners will next take on Nottingham Forest away from home on Saturday, May 20.
