“That’s the one that makes the most sense” – Darren Bent feels Liverpool could sign player he would want at Arsenal

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Belt believes Moises Caicedo will be a good signing for Liverpool, but he would like to see the midfielder at Arsenal.

Caicedo has been excellent for Brighton & Hove Albion over the past couple of seasons. The Ecuadorian was linked with a move to the Emirates in January, but ultimately remained with the Seagulls, helping them secure European football for next season.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey (via "Talking Transfers" H/T Sportskeeda), Brighton could let Caicedo leave for £80 million this summer. The Athletic's David Ornstein, meanwhile, reported that Mikel Arteta's team are monitoring England internationals Declan Rice and Mason Mount to bolster their midfield.

Bent, an Arsenal fan, recently stated that he would love for Caicedo to join the team he supports. However, he believes a move to Anfield makes more sense. The former Spurs striker said during an appearance on the "Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE" YouTube channel (as quoted by TBR Football):

“[on where Caicedo should go] Liverpool. That’s the one that makes the most sense. Obviously, I’d love him to come to Arsenal. But outside of Arsenal, that’s the one that makes the most sense. Fabinho’s getting older, hasn’t got the legs anymore.”

Liverpool are notably close to signing Caicedo's Brighton teammate Alexis Mac Allister, as per transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano. Their other high-profile target was Jude Bellingham, but The Athletic reported earlier this month that they had dropped out of the race due to the finances involved.

Arsenal and Liverpool need more midfield cover and Moises Caicedo could be the answer

Arsenal's lack of squad depth has caught up to them in recent months, leading to the team relinquishing their grip on the Premier League title.

Fatigue was a factor, Thomas Partey's fitness remains a concern and Granit Xhaka looks set to depart the Emirates this summer (as per Fabrizio Romano). The Gunners need to add another midfielder, in addition to bolstering other parts of their squad.

Liverpool, meanwhile, face, in some respects, an even more daunting rebuild.

Thiago Alcantara has dealt with injuries once again, Fabinho has been nowhere near his disruptive best and Jordan Henderson has looked off the pace. Additionally, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all depart the club as free agents this summer.

Despite being just 21 years of age, Moises Caicedo could be the man for both teams.

It's easy to forget that Caicedo only made his Premier League debut midway through last season. However, he has quickly transformed into one of Brighton's most important players this term.

In 35 league games, the midfielder has recorded a passing accuracy of 89% while averaging 1.2 key passes, 2.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 6.1 duels won per game. He has also chipped in with a goal and assist.

Caicedo has the ability to make his presence felt on both ends of the pitch and is yet to hit his prime. Despite having limited Premier League experience, the Ecuadorian could prove to be a valuable signing for both Arsenal and Liverpool.
