Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says Kai Havertz had to play through illness against Tottenham

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was happy to see his team stand tall in the north London derby and keep their chances of winning the league alive. The Spanish coach had high praise for Havertz while revealing that he was playing through an illness.

"He was sensational in every department today. He wasn’t at 100 per cent. He was ill before the match, he was a bit struggling and still he put the performance that he put in. I thought he was unbelievable today," Arteta said afterwards, via The Standard.

Havertz scored his team's third goal, with Arsenal up 3-0 at half-time. Spurs came back in the second half and scored twice. However, they failed to find the crucial equaliser. Arsenal remain top of the standings with 80 points, with Manchester City a point behind, but with a game in hand.

Kai Havertz scored his 12th goal in the English Premier League this season. He has a total of 13 goals and six assists this season in 48 appearances across all competitions.
