Maitland-Niles - I’ve gained vital experience

When asked whether he had been playing in his favoured position this season, Ainsley Maitland-Niles gave a wry smile. The England Under-20 international counts himself as a central midfielder, but has performed well at left wing-back - and says the experience of performing in the Europa League has been “vital”. This is what he told the media ahead of Thursday’s game against BATE Borisov: on what he’s gained from playing in Europa… I think that I’ve gained vital experience playing in this competition, playing with top players, against some difficult opposition.
