Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring for Arsenal against Newcastle
Ozil was rested for the Premier League clash at St James’ Park. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger picked a more defensive-minded midfield in his absence, with 18-year-old Joe Willock making his league debut alongside Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny. Lacazette gave Arsenal the lead in the 14th minute, expertly finishing from a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cross after the Gabon international was found by a lofted through ball from Shkodran Mustafi. But at half time, Henry highlighted how Mustafi could instead have played a short pass to Elneny - a pass he believes would have been made if Ozil played. Related...
