Arsène Wenger says goodbye but ‘will cherish every moment I was here’

Arsène Wenger noted a little waspishly that to please some Arsenal fans it was better he left the club, as he described the final home game of his 22-year tenure as a “very sad day”. Arsenal thrashed Burnley 5-0 to ensure a sixth-placed Premier League finish and direct qualification to the group stage of next season’s Europa League and it was an afternoon of celebration and ceremony.
