Premier League's top six to be kept apart on opening and closing weekends

The Premier League's "top six" clubs will not play each on the first and last weekends of the season when the new TV deal begins in 2019-20, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph and The Times. The tender document sent to prospective television broadcasters, which covers the three seasons between 2019 and 2022, states that any fixtures between the "top six" clubs "shall always exclude the opening weekend fixture programme of each season, the final fixture programme of each season and the weekend on which the FA Cup semifinals are scheduled to be played."
