Arsenal FC news: Petr Cech, Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny all given new numbers

Petr Cech has been given the No.1 shirt at Arsenal after previously holding the number 33 following his arrival in 2015. Despite questions over the former Chelsea goalkeeper’s fitness and form last season, the club have rewarded him with a new squad number. The Gunners have not had a No.1 since Wojciech Szczesny left for Juventus last summer. Elsewhere, hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny have all been given new squad numbers ahead of the 2018/19 season. Bellerin has adopted the traditional right-back number two, Xhaka takes over the number 34 he had at Borussia Monchengladbach and Mohamed Eleneny has taken over the Per Mertesacker’s old number four shirt.
