Internationals: Nketiah makes England U-21 debut

Eddie Nkietah made his England Under-21 debut in their Toulon Tournament clash with Mexico on Tuesday evening. Our teenage striker, who was an unused substitute in the Young Lions’ opening-day win against China, was given the nod ahead of Tammy Abraham and drew a good save from Jose Hernandez just eight minutes in.   Mexico then went close through Uriel Antuna and Cesar Montes before Abraham, who had replaced Nketiah on the hour mark, failed to connect with Lukas Nmecha’s backheeled flick in the second half.   England’s attentions now turn towards Qatar on Friday, with Aidy Boothroyd’s side looking to better Mexico’s result against China to book a place in the semi-finals.  ...
