Arsenal officially confirmed in July that Calum Chambers had signed a new long-term contract extension with the club. Unai Emery, at the time, commented that the 23-year-old would be 'part of my plans this season'. Before the start of the new season, however, the defender was shipped out on loan to newly-promoted Fulham. The switch hinted that the Spanish coach had lost faith in the Englishman, and at this stage in his career, time must be running out for Chambers to prove that he is up to being a regular fixture in the Gunners’ back line.
