Manchester City 2-0 Arsenal: How it happened

WHAT HAPPENED Our nine-game winning streak in the Women’s Super League came to an end on Sunday as we were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City. The hosts had the first sight of goal when Lia Walti’s header inadvertently sent Georgia Stanway through on goal, but Louise Quinn was on hand to stop the danger and recycle possession.  Shortly after Beth Mead combined with Vivianne Miedema on the edge of the box and fizzed a right-footed effort just wide of the far post, before City eventually opened the scoring.  Stanway received the ball inside the area following a fortunate deflection - and the 19-year-old made no mistake in firing past Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.
